Frequently asked Questions About Hypnosis

Q Is hypnosis safe?

A Absolutely! There are no known records of anyone having been physically or mentally harmed as a direct result of hypnosis. Hypnosis was officially and legally recognized as a therapeutic treatment in 1958 by the American Medical Association. It is impossible to get "stuck" in hypnosis. Hypnosis is safe, satisfying and self-empowering. It is a legal, self-regulated, self-help alternative wellness modality that uses the mind's natural ability to create a positive attitude that supports health and happiness.

Q Can anyone be hypnotized?

A Anyone who is willing to be, has no fear of hypnosis, and doesn't resist, can be. *Exceptions are those with limited intelligence and severe mental illnesses.

Q How does hypnosis feel?

A Some describe it as mellow, passive, or relaxing. Others say they feel light or heavy. The experience differs with individuals. For most, it's a pleasant state of deep inner calm and physical relaxation. Because you can hear and respond to everything that was said, some say they weren't hypnotized. Although a subject may look  unconscious, they are keenly aware of everything that is going on, but feel very relaxed.

Q Will I say or do anything that I normally wouldn't do?

A No. You won't divulge any secrets or do anything to violate your moral standards.

Q Can I remain in hypnosis against my will?

A No. The client is always in control.

Q Are the results of hypnosis permanent?

A Results vary with individuals. With some, suggestions stay indefinitely, others need reinforcement. If more techniques are used, and post-hypnotic suggestions are given, the more permanent, the results become. Self-hypnosis and reinforcement tapes for home use are beneficial.

Q What are the uses of hypnosis?

A Hypnosis is used for the mind, body and spirit. Smoking cessation, weight loss, habit control, fears and phobias, stress, anxiety, trauma issues, memory and study skills, goals, spots enhancement, past life regression, confidence and self-esteem, pre and post surgery healing and much more.
